NOVEMBER 8, 2012 – 1730 HOURS

SEPTEMBER 22, 2012 – 1600 HOURS

On Saturday, the Heroes will be in-store at the venue for a meet-and-greet. We’ve heard plenty of “Thank You’s” already this ArtPrize, but these are the ones who deserve the true “Thank You’s.” This event is open to the public and will begin at 1600 hours (4PM).

SEPTEMBER 19 – OCTOBER 7, 2012

ArtPrize is an international art competition in Grand Rapids, MI, open to any artist and decided by public vote, promoting critical dialogue and collaboration throughout the year. [Fashion Has Heart] has created a venue and entry to share the work from 5 amazing Heroes and 5 amazing Artists.

The Corporal Hoffman Series pairs wounded U.S. military veterans & active servicemen/women each with an established artist/designer. Together the two individuals collaborate to share that hero’s story through the medium of art & graphic design. The result of their work is artistically silkscreened onto a Threadless t-shirt to become a wearable work of art that carries a significant story with it. This [FHH] project also includes each of the 5 Heroes working with footwear designers from Bates to custom-design their own military-inspired boot that aids to further tell their story through the medium of fashion.

This project fills the void between the military world and the creative community. By bringing the two parties together to utilize the talents of the Artist in order to share the powerful story of the Hero, it serves as a celebration of our freedoms by the those who sacrificed for them & by those who benefit from them.
