A Heart for our Heroes

It was an unlikely pair. In 2010, an 8-year U.S Navy veteran and a professional artist/designer met over coffee one morning in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Upon meeting, they quickly found themselves giving life to a non-profit organization with a very special initiative. Their mission was to give U.S. veterans a voice and feed their creative spirit — things that are too often silenced and overlooked.

The mission of [Fashion Has Heart] is to unleash the creative spirit of wounded veterans through art, design and fashion, and provide an opportunity for the creative community to give back to the veterans who served on their behalf, both at home and abroad.

[FHH] creates unique apparel through annual workshops that partner graphic artists with wounded veterans. In 2012, [FHH] first shared this apparel with the public at ArtPrize, an open art competition in Grand Rapids, Michigan that gives out the world’s largest Art Prize.

Its newest program is Vet’s Voice, an online platform for veterans to share their stories with the world.

Founded in 2012, [Fashion Has Heart] is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, nonpartisan organization based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Want more info? Contact us.
